“1 like on social media = 1€ donation”

This was the motto of our charity campaign in December of 2021. The aim was to collect as many likes as possible with our online advent calendar. With your help, a generous donation of 1111€ was collected, which we gave to our partner, skate-aid, last week. Our team was on-site at the skate-aid store in Münster and met Tobias Egelkamp, managing director of skate-aid-international e.V.

What is skate-aid?

skate-aid is a non-profit initiative founded in 2009 by skateboard legend Titus Dittmann. skate-aid stands for a holistic and self-determined approach to supporting children and young people in the context of sport. The skateboard serves as an educational tool and is intended to make children strong and strengthen their skills and self-confidence. The main idea being conveyed here is to always get back up when you fall down. Skateboarding brings children and young people a sense of freedom and helps to develop themselves into strong individuals. skate-aid is always used where social grievances, injustices, and difficult living conditions prevail that inhibit the development of young people.

What happens to the money we raised at stylink?

The collected donations from the stylink community will be used for a skate-aid skate park in Nepal, which will open in about two weeks. When the time comes, we will of course tell you more about it. skate-aid will also offer educational workshops for children!

How else can you support skate-aid?

The initiative is not only happy about financial support, which you can provide through a supporting membership in the form of a small, monthly contribution, but also through volunteering at on-site flea markets or festivals. Of course, you can also support skate-aid by buying merchandise such as shirts, shoes or even a skateboard in the skate-aid online shop. The annual fundraiser gala, where lots of money is collected to be able to support even more projects like the one in Nepal, should also be mentioned. This gala is also an opportunity for those interested in volunteering their time.

A special thanks to the stylink community!

Of course, a thank you also goes out to our amazing community! And thank you for being a part of it! We would also like to thank everyone who has contributed to this amazing project by liking us on social media as part of our stylink online charity advent calendar!

We hope to be able to support another company this year, as well! If you would like to learn more about the skate-aid project, please visit https://www.skate-aid.org/en/ or check out our Instagram channel. We have also uploaded the interview with Tobias there.
